Goodnight Southeast

Goodnight Southeast 150 150 The Band of Heathens

It’s 3:29am and we’re headed back home to Austin after a couple weeks out in the southeast. Trying hard to stay awake thru the night after an exhausting (in a good, sweaty, high energy kinda way exhausting) show in Memphis. I figured typing a blog update on the tiny keyboard of a phone would wake me up (dont worry, im not driving).
It was good getting back to some of our favorite rooms like the visualite in Charlotte and we were excited to finally get to Asheville, NC for a show and a day off.

Musically this tour was pretty good (I think being in the studio before we left for the tour helped with everybody listening to each other), but it seems that one member of the band wants to leave to start a jewelry line designing and hand-making necklaces for the rich and famous. We fully support this endeavor/dream and we decided to help with naming the company and designing a logo. Here’s it is:

Luckily, we convinced Ed to stay in the band, and to set his jewelry making dreams aside.

In other news, we’ve been digging the new Justin Townes Earle album, the new Ray Lamontagne album, Vetiver, and Delta Spirit (Thank you Jonny Burke). We’ve also been reading individually (not communally aloud) “Autobiography of a Yogi”, “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance”, and “Natural Cures ‘They’ Don’t Want You to Know About”. Man, I guess we are a bunch of hippies. Can you guess who’s reading what???

We’re looking forward to a show in San Antonio this Saturday, and then Dallas on Sunday with the Black Crowes. Then back in the studio before heading to the midwest one more time this year.
Ok, I think that’s enough typing on the little keyboard. This has taken far too long and it’s making me tired.
Thanks for the last 3 months of touring… We’ve seen the sweet shores of both east and west coasts and lots in between. We love you America.
